Lizzy Hoffmann
Lizzy Hoffmann founded Urban Bliss Yoga in 2006 in North Carolina. Her journey into yoga began with her mother, who introduced her to this ancient practice in the late 1960s and 1970s. Lizzy’s mother studied under renowned gurus like Muktananda, Satchitananda, and Roy Eugene Davis, instilling in Lizzy the values of yoga from a young age, including Ahimsa (non-violence) and conscious vegan eating.
Lizzy’s passion for movement also led her to a career in dance. After graduating high school, she worked with professional dance companies across the United States and earned a degree in Dance, Kinesiology, and Choreography in 1986. She views the joy of movement as a reflection of the miracle of life and a constant source of inspiration.
Transitioning from dance to fitness, Lizzy became a presenter for major fitness companies, traveling worldwide to share health and wellness with others. This journey eventually brought her back to yoga, where she discovered her teacher, Paul Toliuszis, at Miami’s Yoga Shala in Southern Florida. Lizzy earned her 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher designation and taught numerous classes inspired by the Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series.
In 2006, Lizzy founded Urban Bliss School of Yoga and currently leads teacher trainings across the southeastern United States. She draws inspiration from teachers like Georg Feuerstein and Sri K Pattabhi Jois, with whom she studied extensively. Lizzy is certified on the 1,500-hour level and holds an E-RYT 200 & E-RYT 500 status with Yoga Alliance. Her expertise encompasses Yoga History, Philosophy, Literature, Therapy, Asana sequencing, Yin Yoga, Holistic Therapeutic Yoga, Yoga for Pregnancy, the Ashtanga Yoga Primary series, and more.
